I’m pleased to share that I have been accepted as a member of the Forbes Coaches Council.

The invitation-only community brings together experienced business and leadership coaches from around the world. Members contribute their professional perspectives to Forbes, addressing the questions facing senior executives and business owners.

It is a privilege to join that international conversation while representing the Midlands and the wider UK coaching profession.

Before founding Armour Coaching, I spent more than two decades in senior leadership roles within blue-chip IT and telecommunications organisations. I experienced the demands of leading through growth and significant organisational change first-hand.

That experience continues to inform my work with clients today. Leadership decisions are rarely made in perfect conditions. Executives are expected to exercise sound judgement while managing commercial pressure and carrying responsibility for the people affected by their choices.

My aim has always been to bring a practical and commercially grounded perspective to coaching. Joining the Forbes Coaches Council gives me an opportunity to contribute that perspective to a wider audience and take part in discussions with experienced coaches from across the world.

My first contribution, After the Decision: What Really Drives Leadership Success, considers what happens once a significant decision has been made.

Leaders naturally devote considerable attention to reaching the right decision. The outcome, however, will also depend on what follows. People need to understand what has been decided and how their own responsibilities have changed. Progress must then be reviewed so that the approach can be adjusted when circumstances demand it.

The article draws on my corporate experience and the work I now do with executives facing comparable challenges. It explores why leadership is ultimately demonstrated through action and follow-through.

This milestone comes during an important period for Armour Coaching. We are continuing to develop our work in the United States while retaining the strong Midlands base from which the business began.

I am proud to join the Forbes Coaches Council and look forward to contributing ideas that senior leaders can apply to the decisions they face in their own organisations.
